Information Systems Selection
Prosum will work with you to develop a specification document that is used to support the selection of your best-fit solution. The specification document is defined during the business and technical requirements gathering sessions. This document includes:
- To-Be business processes
- Current business requirements
- Future business requirements based on company’s strategic directions
- Data fields requirements
- Reporting requirements
- Systems integration and required interfaces (internal or external)
- Data conversion requirements from legacy systems to your new system
This specifications document is used to choose the vendor and/or technology that best meet your business and technology requirements. Packaged software can be implemented off the shelf; however, most times it provides an 80% solution and will need to be customized in order to meet all identified business needs. In some cases, no packaged software offering exists and custom development is the best option. From an infrastructure standpoint, the requirements are crucial to ensure that security, redundancy, and connectivity are robust and scalable enough to support the new or optimized application layer. By using the specification document to ensure your information systems meet your requirements, your company will have a much clearer understanding of the implementation or optimization costs, options, and maintenance requirements of your enterprise architecture and be less likely to make costly purchases that will not meet future requirements.
